As of July 1, 2024, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is regulated in Ontario. Anyone using the protected title of Behaviour Analyst must be registered as a Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario, adhere to the Standards of Professional Conduct, and participate in ongoing Quality Assurance. RBAs also ensure that the individuals they supervise who implement programming are adhering to these standards. Programming at bitKIDS is supervised by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). This individual works closely with both the family and the therapy team to build, guide, and monitor each learner’s individualized program.
Many Registered Behaviour Analysts are also Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). In Ontario, it is not necessary to maintain a BCBA, although most RBAs in the field will have taken this pathway due to the history of the field in our province. As BCBAs, we report to the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board, practice according to the board’s code of ethics, and participate in continuing education to maintain our certification. As of July 2026, there will not be new BCBAs in Ontario.
