DEI Research Opportunity

BitKIDS is committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace and in the community.  To support our DEI policy, bitKIDS provides a strong foundation of training for all staff in Respect and Inclusion in the Workplace by the Canadian Diversity Initiative.

In April, staff attended a lunch and learn called From Awareness to Action – Accessibility in the Workplace. This presentation was  collaboration between University of Western Ontario’s Tech Services and the CNIB.

It highlighted:

  1. Practical recommendations and resources to foster inclusive language and documentation
  2. Simple ways to improve our common methods of communication with staff, clients, their families and the public by using accessibility features in common software for email, word processing and video conferencing
  3. An encouraging message, that every step matters and when we make things better, we send a message of belonging

Families and staff who are interested in more actionable steps can consider supporting research on co-designing culturally responsive and family-centered approaches.  You can share the recruitment poster from McGill University or contact  kelly.dsouza@mail.mcgill.ca to participate.
