Give an iPad, Give a Voice: bitKIDS’ Used iPad Drive for AAC Month

October is Augmentative and Alternative Communication Month, a time to celebrate the many ways people express themselves and to promote access to communication tools for those who need them most. At bitKIDS Behaviour Consulting in Kitchener, we’re proud to support children with communication challenges through evidence-based interventions and AAC technology.
This month, we’re launching a Used iPad Drive to help bridge the gap for families and children who rely on AAC apps to communicate—but don’t always have the devices to run them.
Why iPads Are Essential
Our Board Certified Behaviour Analysts are licensed to use Professional AAC Software, but we lack the Apple devices needed to deploy these tools effectively. Your donated iPad can help us:
- Support clients waiting for Assistive Devices Program (ADP) funding, so they can begin communicating right away.
- Provide temporary replacements for clients whose devices are damaged or malfunctioning.
- Equip staff with tools to learn, practice and model language and act as communication partners during therapy sessions.
What We’re Looking For
We’re accepting working iPads that can run current AAC apps using a minimum of iOS17. Devices will be securely wiped and used to support communication development for children in our care.
While we’re unable to provide donation receipts, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share this initiative with your network. Every share helps us reach more potential donors—and ultimately, help more learners.
How to Donate
If you have a device to donate or want to help spread the word, please contact us at info@bitkids.ca. Drop-offs can be arranged at our Kitchener office.
Let’s make AAC Month meaningful by giving every child the chance to be heard. Your old iPad could become a child’s new voice.
