How bitKIDS Embeds Social and Classroom Skills Into One-to-One ABA Therapy

Small Group Moments. Big Learning Opportunities.

At bitKIDS, individualized one-to-one therapy is the foundation of our Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) services. This personalized approach allows our therapists to tailor teaching strategies, pacing, and goals to each child.

At the same time, many important developmental skills—especially social interaction, play, and classroom readiness—happen naturally in group environments.

That’s why we intentionally embed structured group learning opportunities within one-to-one sessions. Through scheduled circle time and classroom-style activities during both morning and afternoon sessions, learners can practice interacting with peers while still receiving individualized therapeutic support.

This approach allows us to maximize learning opportunities throughout every therapy session.

Why Social and Group Skills Matter

Many of the skills children use every day involve learning alongside others. These include:

• Greeting peers and adults
• Taking turns
• Participating in songs and group activities
• Following group instructions
• Playing cooperatively
• Waiting and listening
• Participating during circle time or classroom routines

While these skills can be introduced individually, they become meaningful when practiced with peers. Group opportunities help children apply what they learn in therapy to environments like school, daycare, and community programs.

Circle Time at bitKIDS

Circle time is a structured part of our morning and afternoon sessions where learners gather with their therapists for a short group routine.

Activities may include:

• Greeting friends
• Singing songs and action rhymes
• Calendar or weather discussions
• Movement activities
• Listening to a short story

During circle time, learners can practice:

✔ Attending in a group
✔ Imitation and participation
✔ Responding to group instructions
✔ Waiting and taking turns
✔ Listening to others

Each child participates with their own therapist beside them, allowing us to provide individualized prompting, encouragement, and reinforcement during the activity.

Classroom-Style Learning Opportunities

In addition to circle time, we schedule small group classroom activities throughout the day. These might include:

• Art and craft projects
• Table-top learning activities
• Cooperative games
• Story discussions
• Structured play activities

These experiences help learners practice important classroom readiness skills, such as:

• Sitting with peers at a table
• Sharing materials
• Following multi-step instructions
• Waiting for a turn
• Transitioning between activities

These moments help bridge the gap between individual therapy and real classroom expectations.

Pairing Learners With Similar Goals

Our clinical team carefully coordinates group opportunities by pairing learners who have compatible goals and learning styles.

This allows therapists to create meaningful social learning opportunities where children can practice:

• Parallel play
• Cooperative play
• Social initiations
• Responding to peers
• Turn-taking during games
• Joint attention during shared activities

Thoughtful pairing helps increase natural opportunities for communication and interaction during sessions.

Maximizing Learning During One-to-One Sessions

Although learners participate in group activities, therapy remains fully individualized.

Therapists continue to:

• Work on each learner’s specific goals
• Provide individualized prompting and teaching strategies
• Capture learning opportunities during peer interactions
• Track progress during group and individual activities

This means children benefit from both personalized support and real social practice.

Preparing for School and Community Success

At bitKIDS, our goal is to help learners develop skills that will support them across environments—at home, in school, and in the community.

By embedding play, social interaction, and classroom skills into everyday therapy sessions, learners gain meaningful practice in environments that mirror real life.

These experiences help build confidence, independence, and readiness for future learning.

Learning Together at bitKIDS

Circle time and classroom activities give learners the opportunity to practice important social and group skills while still receiving individualized ABA support.

These shared experiences also create moments of connection, fun, and collaboration—helping children learn not just from their therapists, but from each other.

At bitKIDS, we believe that every moment is an opportunity for learning.
