Communication Continues

Because of you communication continues

Celebrating iPad Donations & AAC Access

At bitKIDS, we believe that every child deserves a voice—and sometimes, that voice comes through technology.

This Autism Acceptance Month, we are incredibly grateful to share some exciting news:
Four iPads have been generously donated to our program, helping us expand access to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in meaningful, practical ways.

Why This Matters

For many of our learners, communication isn’t always spoken—but it is always meaningful.

Many of the children we support already have personalized AAC systems, thoughtfully selected and programmed in collaboration with a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). These systems are essential, individualized tools that travel with them across environments.

Our newly donated iPads are not replacing those devices—they are supporting them.

Filling the Gaps, Supporting Communication

In real life, things happen:

  • Devices get forgotten at home
  • Batteries run out
  • Technology needs repairs

When that happens, communication shouldn’t stop.

These donated iPads will act as backup AAC devices, ensuring that children can continue to communicate throughout their day at BitKids. They also allow our team to step into their role as communication partners, actively modeling language using AAC in a consistent and supportive way.

This kind of modeling is powerful—it shows children how communication works, builds familiarity with their systems, and encourages engagement.

Making the Most of a Meaningful Opportunity

Thanks to a limited-time Autism Acceptance Month initiative from AssistiveWare, many AAC apps are currently available at 50% off.

This allows us to equip these shared devices with high-quality communication tools, ensuring they are ready when needed—whether for backup use or for staff-led modeling.

From Donation to Impact

Because of this generosity and timely opportunity:

  • 4 iPads will become accessible backup communication tools
  • Children will have consistent access to AAC—even when challenges arise
  • Staff can model language and support communication development in real time

Each device represents more than technology—it represents continuity, inclusion, and being understood.

Thank You for Giving a Voice

To those who contributed to our “Give an iPad, Give a Voice” initiative—thank you.

Your support helps ensure that communication doesn’t pause when devices are unavailable. It helps us create an environment where every child is supported, every voice is valued, and every attempt to communicate is met with understanding.

Want to Help?

We are still accepting gently used iPads to continue expanding access to AAC for the children and families we support.
