Starting ABA at bitKIDS

Starting ABA at bitKIDS

What to Expect Every Step of the Way

Taking the first step toward starting ABA services can feel exciting, hopeful, and sometimes a little overwhelming. Whether you’ve recently received an autism diagnosis, are exploring your options, or are ready to begin therapy, it’s natural to have questions about what happens next.

At bitKIDS, we believe families should feel informed and supported from the very first conversation. Here’s what you can expect when starting services with our team.

Step 1: Reach Out

Getting started is easy.

Contact bitKIDS by phone or email. Our team will answer your initial questions and learn more about your family’s needs.

Whether you’re ready to begin services or simply exploring your options, we’re here to help.

Step 2: Meet with Our Operations Coordinator

Your next step is a conversation with our Operations Coordinator. This can be over the phone or in person during a clinic tour.

During this meeting, we’ll take the time to learn about your child, your family’s goals, current supports, funding options, and what you’re hoping to achieve. Together, we’ll determine which service model best fits your family’s needs.

From there, one of three pathways may be recommended:

Option 1: ABA Assessment

If you’re looking for recommendations before making decisions about ongoing services—or if you’re preparing for a Determination of Need (DON) meeting—an ABA Assessment may be the right place to start.

This standalone assessment provides individualized recommendations that may include:

  • Suggested therapy hours
  • Recommended service type
  • Priority goals
  • Recommendations to support future planning

Option 2: Ongoing 1:1 ABA Therapy

If ongoing ABA therapy is the best fit, your program will begin with a comprehensive ABA Assessment.

This assessment allows your clinical team to understand your child’s strengths, learning style, and support needs before developing an individualized treatment plan.

Following the assessment, therapy begins with goals tailored specifically to your child and is adjusted over time as they grow and develop.

Option 3: Caregiver Coaching

Sometimes the most appropriate starting point is caregiver coaching.

This service focuses on empowering parents and caregivers with practical, evidence-based strategies they can use during everyday routines and activities.

Coaching is collaborative, individualized, and designed to build confidence while supporting meaningful progress in the child’s natural environments.

Step 3: Complete Your Intake and Get Ready to Start

Once you’ve decided which service is the best fit for your family, we’ll guide you through the next steps to get started.

Complete Your Client Information Form

You’ll be asked to complete a Client Information Form. This helps our team collect important information about your child and family, including contact information, relevant history, current supports, and the goals you’d like to work toward.

Taking the time to share this information helps us better understand your family’s needs and ensures we’re starting with a clear picture of what’s most important to you.

Review Your Service Agreement

We’ll provide you with a contract outlining the details of your services with bitKIDS. Our team will review the agreement with you, answer any questions you may have, and make sure you understand what to expect before services begin.

Plan Your Schedule and Start Date

Once the intake process and paperwork are complete, we’ll work with you to determine either a morning, afternoon or full day schedule that fits your family’s needs and our team’s availability.

Together, we’ll confirm your service start date and make sure you know what to expect as you begin your journey with bitKIDS.

Our goal is to make the process as smooth and straightforward as possible, so you feel prepared and supported from the very beginning.

You’re Not Expected to Have All the Answers

Many families contact us because they’re unsure where to begin—and that’s okay.

You don’t need to know which service is right for your child before reaching out. That’s what we’re here for.

We’ll take the time to understand your family’s unique situation, answer your questions, and help you choose the path that’s the best fit for your child and your goals.

We look forward to supporting your family every step of the way.
